A formal approach to learning often means that students learn in a whole class with the teacher is standing at the front, rather than learning individually. I think individual learning is beneficial some how because students do not need to communicate with others and it make work more flexible. Furthermore, if you work alone, you have the own idea to work in and have a faster decision making than working as group. Generally, you may also learn independently on individual learning too.
Also, practical learning is another good learning method. Students can have more chances to do experiments and exercises on their own rather than formal teaching (listening to what teacher says). Thus, it is more realistic and useful for students instead of listening to the theory. Though this learning method, students may gain good results and further understand a particular issue as ’practice make perfect.’
